Dr Scott E. Monk was a brilliant Trauma and Critical Care Surgeon who began his career at Cooper Hospital and became the Medical Director at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City. Scott’s great passion besides his family, friends, and exceptional patient care, was education.
 
With this in mind, several years ago our family established the Scott E. Monk, DO Scholarship Fund to help offset the skyrocketing costs of a medical education. Since 2009, we have awarded over $200,000 to many outstanding individuals who, with our assistance, were able to complete their education more quickly and graduate with less debt.
 
To celebrate Scott’s zest for life and honor his memory and many accomplishments in a unique and fun way, we created the Funky Monk Fish & Music Fest Fundraiser. Each year we enjoy a fantastic day beginning with an optional afternoon back bay fishing trip, followed by an evening filled with delicious food, live music, raffles, auctions and more held at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. 100% of the proceeds raised help defray the cost of a medical education for our deserving scholarship recipients.
Thanks to the generosity of our friends, donors, and sponsors over the last 8 years, this event has raised over $150,000 for the Scott Monk Scholarship Fund.
 
For a number of reasons, The Funky Monk Fish & Music Fest will not be held this year.

Our next Funky Monk will be in June, 2026. Details to follow..

More details to follow. Even without our event this year, we will still award 4 $5000 scholarships this May.
